Yoga Teacher Training 2023

When I stepped onto my mat as a student, I had no idea where this "stretching" class would lead. Through dedicated practice with my teacher, Yoga began to introduce me to my most authentic self. I began to let go of my old notions of self, and really became who I was meant to be. Unapologetically.
The path led me to become a teacher, and my life has been forever enriched by that experience.
It has been my immense pleasure to share the teachings of Yoga with my students in the studio, but nothing has given me more fulfillment and purpose than leading Yoga Teacher Trainings. It is such a privilege.

After running my first solo training last year, I reevaluated the lay out. For this training, we have two immersive weekends in quick succession, then we transition into a manageable one weekend a month to facilitate real-life learning and experience.

We will spend time together in the Mid City Yoga Cabana diving deep, and time together for your regular practice at One Heart Yoga Center. In addition to your training, your classes to fulfill your practice requirement at One Heart Yoga are included in your tuition. Your practice time at One Heart Yoga will expose you to a supportive studio community and diverse teachers.
Last training we were lucky to have Terri Hunter lead our Ayurveda module and I am so grateful for her time and knowledge.

This training we are so fortunate to have Effie Branton, Physician, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultantant & Practiioner and RYT200 leading our Ayurveda module this session. Ayurveda is the "Sister Science" to Yoga and Effie is passionate and knowledgeable about the nuances of the science. Effie makes Ayurveda accessible and applicable- plus she is a graduate of my Yoga Teacher Training so you know she has the goods!

One of the most special parts of this training will be the time spent with your fellow trainees at the Mid City Yoga Cabana: In the cabana we create a container to hold the group in a space of inner transformation. During immersion weekends, the space becomes a home base where big shifts can and do happen.

Choosing a training can be overwhelming, so let's talk about why you should choose mine.

Yoga Teacher Training, or YTT, (200 in this case) is the first level of certification to become a Registered Yoga Teacher 200 or RYT200. This certification is through Yoga Alliance.
Yoga Alliance Standards set the ethical and educational framework for yoga teachers and schools in order to ensure high quality, safe, accessible, and equitable yoga teaching in communities around the world.
There are many options for YTT, and they all have merit. Online options offer flexibility in ways in-person simply can not.

However, it is my opinion that YTT is best experienced in-person with a small group and a dedicated teacher. This allows for personal growth, deeper understanding of group dynamics and will expose you to different abilities and experiences.
Why choose my training?
I have been teaching Yoga in the Baton Rouge area for 10 years, and I have a background in bodywork for 20 years. I have co-led one YTT and led one solo. I have taken two YTT myself - they were very different- experiences which has helped me hone in on what is important in my dedicated training.

All of my continuing education has centered around making Yoga Accessible to all bodies.
I hold certifications in:
  • Curvy Yoga ( Yoga focused on accessibility for larger bodies)
  • Yoga for All ( literally what it says)
  • Accessible Yoga- and I am an Accessible Yoga Ambassador. ( Making Yoga Accessible to anyone with a body)
  • Dementia Yoga ( Yoga for people with Dementia)
  • I am a RYT200, ERYT200, RYT500 through Yoga Alliance
  • I am a Licensed Massage Therapist (LA3125)and AMTA member with 20 years experience and knowledge of the body.
  • Reiki Master Teacher
  • Certified Vibrational and Sound Bath Practioner
These unique experiences sets my training apart from others by really focusing on making the practice of Yoga sustainable and accessible to all bodies for a lifelong practice, while allowing you the space to grow into your own practice.

My YTT is limited to 6 Yogis, and is held in-person. Students have access directly to the lead trainer ( me) and communication is of the utmost importance. Holding space for your training is something I take very seriously and I am invested in your experience wholeheartedly.
This training is Hatha based on the Ashtanga Method with an emphasis on making Yoga accessible to all bodies. Students will arrive on the other side of training with the tools to safely and effectively teach an asana class.
Upon completion, the YTTs can register with Yoga Alliance to become RYT200 and can go forth and teach if they choose to do so.
4 spaces are left in this cohort.
To help keep this training accessible, I offer:
  • Early Pay-In-Full discount on the full tuition amount
  • Pay-In-Full discount on full tuition price
  • Payment Plan
The early-paid-in-full option is available until 7/1/2023
